Want to learn how to build confidence for a job interview and how to be confident at interviews? In this video, we will share with you some tips on how to show confidence in a job Interview.
Confidence in an interview can make a huge impact. However, cockiness can lose you the opportunity.
Where's the line? I was once interviewing a man who was speaking highly of himself, and ended his answer to a question with,
"I'm really good. You probably couldn't afford me."
Dumbfounded that a candidate who applied for a role would say that, I inquired,
"Why? How much are you looking for?"
He got uncomfortable, named what he was currently making (which wasn't THAT much), & then he said,
"It's unbecoming to talk about money this early on."
But he brought it up!
So strange.
Some other mistakes include:
🚫Self describing ("I'm a hard worker")
🚫Implying that the role is in anyway beneath you
🚫Focusing on accomplishments from a decade or more ago (You got a perfect SAT score, but what have you done for the world since?).
What shows real confidence?
✅Expressing clearly what you want in your next opportunity
✅Asking great questions to vet the team
✅Acknowledging when you don't know something, & using it as an opportunity to learn from the interviewer
✅Coming in with standards and opinions, instead of agreeing with everything the company says
✅Looking people in the eye, firm handshakes, & relaxed, tall posture
